Mommies Work: A New Children's Book

by Kim (follow)
Where do mommies go when they "go to work"? What do they do there? Why can't they stay home all day and play?

We know all too well the delicate balance mothers face in juggling work and family. Whether working from home or heading back into the office, moms have long struggled to explain their careers, and subsequent absences at home to their little ones.

Mommies Work is a new children’s book designed to illustrate the world of working moms, while also opening dialogue with children about where they go, how they spend their days and why they choose to pursue a career. The book’s goal is to help young children feel more comfortable in understanding why their mothers work while providing a little validation to working moms along the way.

This book is a great gift idea for career moms and moms-to-be, just in time for Mother’s Day and the perfect choice for a Baby Shower, return to the office gift or post-maternity leave present.

Purchase in kindle, hardcover or paperback version on Amazon.

Mommies Work was inspired by Author Kristin Cowart Pierce’s own children who questioned why she couldn’t stay home with them all day. When she was unable to find a book to explain a mother’s return to work post-maternity leave, she decided to write her own.

“After heading back into the office after maternity leave with my second child, it was heartbreaking to hear my children continuously asking where I was going – and why I couldn’t stay home,” explained Author Kristin Cowart Pierce. “There is no one-size-fits-all approach to working vs. being a stay-at-home mother. In my heart, I know my personal choice of starting my own company and working full-time has made me a better mom. I hope Mommies Work provides a little nod of approval to others who may be on a similar journey.”

Part love letter to her children, part tribute to working moms everywhere, the book illustrates how women share their time and energy between career and family. Kristin hopes Mommies Work will inspire mothers to remain committed to their dreams, while teaching young children that women can contribute to the workforce and still be incredible moms.
