This small tutorial company was founded by elementary teacher Donica, who has over 20 years experience, to provide families with some extra support in reading, math, and Orton-Gillingham for students in grades K-5.

Donica believes that individualized learning and meeting the learner where they are currently at increases success in the classroom. The Literacy Blocks use assessments to build on prior knowledge and skills to create individualized lessons targeting the area of support that student needs.

Tutors will work one on one with students to help build build their understanding of spoken word and their ability to decode written word. After all, the key to literacy is reading development. Reading helps fuel the imagination and is the building block for all learning.

The team at The Literacy Blocks have an average of over 15 years teaching experience, and have worked with a wide variety of children, so they recognize difference and apply different ways of helping them achieve their best.



They also offer math literacy, which is the ability for students to identify and understand the role that mathematics plays in the real world.

Each session is done in child-friendly one hour blocks, with two sessions a week recommended, meaning two hours a week is all you need to make a difference to your child’s learning.
